Pyrite

Specimen # 201011
Mineral: Pyrite
Location: Huanzala Mine, Huallanca District, Dos de Mayo Province, Huanuco Dept.,
Size: 4.1 x 3.8 x 3.2 cm

Description

This is an exquisite specimen – one main pyrite crystal with a few smaller ones in association, adorned with tiny sphalerite crystals all over. The quality of this specimen is amazing – although the Huanzala Mine has produced thousands of pyrite specimens, it is rare to find one of this quality – it is pristine and can be displayed from any angle. (If you read this website regularly, you’ll know how sparingly I use the word pristine…) It stands perfectly for display as photographed – it’s simply fantastic.
