Pyromorphite

Specimen # 103107
Mineral: Pyromorphite
Location: Saint-Salvy Mine, Saint-Salvy-de-la-Balme, Castres, Tarn, Occitanie, France
Size: 5.9 x 3.6 x 2.4 cm

Description

Groups of radiating pyromorphite crystals with very good green colour. Although this locality did not produce large numbers of fine specimens, it is regarded as a contemporary classic for the colour and als the distinctive presentation of the pyromorphite crystals in balls. This specimen is from the Tracy Kimmel Collection, acquired from Jordi Fabre, and was formerly in the Silvane collection. It is on mindat as specimen TLC-668. In very good condition, as is the case for most specimens from this locality, some pyromorphite crystals are complete and some are not. Although Jordi photographed it standing up vertically, I personally prefer it as a horizontal specimen – really highlights the nice green, along with some fine lustre too. A beautiful French pyromorphite!
