Quartz

Specimen # 101435
Mineral: Quartz
Location: Quartz, Barra do Salinas, Coronel Murta, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Size: 3.2 x 1.7 x 1.5 cm

Description

A sharp, lustrous parallel-growth quartz, this one has beautiful form. This quartz crystal glassy. It includes an red inclusion, I’m not certain of its composition – it is a spessartine hue, but in shape it’s quite flat and seems irregular. Could be iron mineralization and yet it might be a slightly odd hue for that. Intriguing. In excellent condition, a couple of chips, and the bottom is incomplete (may have been a point of attachment to surrounding rock). Stands naturally as photographed in the first photographs. A very attractive quartz crystal together with a small mystery.
