Description
This is a super display specimen – it stands perfectly as photographed. The quartz crystals are densely included with small pseudo-hexagonal plates of a chlorite-group mineral. This specimen is in excellent condition, no damage.
The locality information given is very broad, but I note that there are small epidote crystals on this piece with the same habit and appearance as those from Capelinha, Minas Gerais. These epidote crystals also indicate the high level of iron present when these minerals crystallized, so the chlorite group mineral could either be chamosite or an iron-rich clinochlore.
A beautiful scuptural piece from the John S. White quartz collection.
