Description
A neat, very unusual amethyst from the John S. White quartz collection (#15-10-10) – the parallel-growth amethyst crystal group is perched at the side of a pair of danburite crystals! This is a figured specimen, photographed in The Mineralogical Record, 37:1 (2006), p. 86. The amethyst crystals are sharp, with a pleasant light purple colour and a relatively matte lustre for the most part. The danburite crystals are sharp, with brilliant glassy lustre and great transparency in the top portions of the crystals. In excellent condition overall – chipping at the upper left corner of the one danburite crystal and the bottom of both the danburite and amethyst are incomplete where they were removed from the rock to which they were affixed. This is an eye-catching display piece.
