Quartz, var. Chalcedony

Specimen # 200627
Mineral: Quartz, var. Chalcedony
Location: Central Java Province, Java, Indonesia
Size: 9.5 x 3.0 x 2.1 cm

Description

A beautiful chalcedony with a texture that sure appears to be a pseudomorph. In fact the centre of each of these pillars is hollow, so it is likely that this specimen is an epimorph after a mineral that has subsequently dissolved. A super piece from the John S. White collection (no. 24-2-3)(label included).
