This is a superb specimen of graphic granite – these are oriented smoky quartz crystals with a plate of microcline feldspar. It’s an incredibly cool specimen whether viewed on edge, or broad side forward. The quartz crystals are sharp, with good lustre and the form is just super. From the John S. White collection, this is a figured specimen, photographed in Rocks & Minerals, 87:5, p.457 (2012). A fantastic illustrative piece!
